HOW TO GET A TASTE OF SUCCESS IN REAL ESTATE

how to get a taste of success in real estate

I mentioned in my previous blog post that I went through an 8-month period of learning to understand the principles of wealth creation.

You see, practicing and teaching about wealth creation wasn’t always what I did, especially during my prime years.

It was during this 8-month period of research and studying the scriptures that I started to realize how to create wealth for myself and also teach it to others.

According to the scriptures, the earth belongs to God and all that is in it (Psalms 24:1).

Now God has given us the earth to subdue it, meaning that the land now belongs to you and I and therefore, everything it produces.

This can only mean one thing: we are all meant to be in real estate.

But real estate is diverse, it is very broad and there are many ways to get involved.

If you buy land today, and you decide to start mining that land for gold, you are into real estate.

If on the other hand, you decide to cultivate that land for farming, you are still into real estate.

But majorly, anything that has to do with land and property is real estate.

Another thing you ought to know is that there is no business on earth that doesn’t require real estate.

Every business needs real estate to thrive.

They need land, they need property, they need spaces to function and real estate provides all of that.

So no matter the industry you find yourself in, you will still need to deal with real estate.

Another interesting thing about real estate is that it is the only vehicle of wealth creation that is also a vehicle of wealth retention.

This is why you see many people who are in oil and gas, tech, finance, etc. use real estate as a vehicle to retain the wealth they have gotten from these industries.

Now, what must you do to have a taste of success in the real estate sector?

you need to get understanding

The good book says “In all your gettings, get understanding” Proverbs 4:7

On the journey to a successful place, two things are required; Knowledge and Information.

If you desire to succeed in any aspect of life, you need to acquire the right information and knowledge.

Before you jump into real estate, it is important that you do your research and get adequate knowledge.

So many people have gotten into real estate but they got their hands burnt.

They refused to seek the right knowledge.

Because real estate is so broad, there are many things you need to understand.

You need to be updated about the changes, the regulations, the processes and so much more.

I always tell people to investigate before they invest.

Just because your brother or your friend brings you a deal doesn’t mean you should jump in head first.

Yes, it is good to trust, you should trust but verify.

So get the required knowledge, study real estate, go online, get materials, read books, and update yourself.

Did you know that there are about 25 different things you can do with vacant land? But the first thing that comes into people’s minds is to build and start receiving rent.

And some people might spend years erecting a building, and they miss out on the profit they ought to have been getting on the land.

Again, you cannot know all of these if you do not do your research.

In a few months’ time, I will be running a 7-day fully residential real estate masterclass called GREEB, you should check it out.

YOU NEED MENTORSHIP

Once you have decided to go into real estate and you have started updating yourself on trends and so on, the next thing you need is mentorship.

There is no aspect of life that you desire to succeed in that someone else hasn’t already conquered.

All you have to do is to reach out to that person and have them as your mentor.

Your mentor can help you achieve in 2 years what he/she achieved in 20 years.

A good mentor is someone who is enthusiastic about helping you achieve your goals.

Over the years, I have mentored a lot of people who have become successful through my mentorship.

When you call someone your mentor, you are required to submit under the tutelage of that person.

There is no partial participation in a mentor-mentee relationship, you have to go all in and do all that your mentor instructs you to do.

However, you want to be deliberate about choosing a mentor, you want to make sure that whoever you choose is the right fit for you.

Finally, mentorship is not just about verbally asking someone to be your mentor, it’s a contract.

You have to go through a formal application, i.e. send out an application to your mentor and hope that they will accept your application.

So if you desire to taste real success in real estate, you need a mentor to take you by the hand and guide you.

The Global Real Estate Executive Bootcamp (GREEB) will open you up to mentorship opportunities in the real estate sector.

All of the speakers will be gracious enough to bring the attendees into their mentorship programs.

you need to take action

One thousand good intentions are not as powerful as one action.

Once you have started learning about the real estate industry and you have gotten a mentor, the next thing to do is to take action.

Many people have not gone into real estate because they are waiting to buy land in a “prime location”

If you continue to wait, you will wait forever because there is no such thing as a prime location.

A village today can become a city tomorrow, all the so-called prime locations you see today were once deserted, and all it took was for someone to move there.

In real estate, you don’t wait to buy land, you buy land and wait.

If you continue to wait for the money to buy land in a prime location and you refuse to make a prime decision, you’ll end up in prime poverty.

5 Things that can stop you from having a taste of real success in real estate

Now that we have touched on the 3 things you need to know about real estate success, let’s talk about the 5 things that can limit you.

1. Upbringing

The kind of family you grew up in matters a lot on your journey to success.

If you grew up in a family where everyone is constantly being dominated by limiting beliefs, you’ll struggle a lot on that journey.

If no one in your family has ever bought land before or owned property, property ownership will never be a topic of discussion amongst your family members.

But instead of blaming your family, what you want to do is to change your mindset and make a decision to change your life.

2. Association

A group of tenants who gossip about their landlord can never own property.

The company you keep will determine how quickly or not you will succeed.

When you move with people who have bought their own lands and built their houses, they can influence you to do the same.

When a tenant starts to move with a homeowner, that association will demystify home ownership.

3. Environment

There is a certain species of shark that if put in an aquarium can never grow more than 9 inches.

Take that same shark and put it in the ocean, the shark will grow to become all that it is meant to become.

If you want to have a mindset of success, there are certain environments you should not live in.

Instead, live in an environment where all you see are possibilities.

4. Ignorance

When you don’t open up to knowledge, you remain on the outskirts of success.

But through motivation, inspiration, mentorship, and deliberate acquisition, you can be all that you want to be.

When you register for training opportunities like GREEB, you will get adequate information that will propel you to start.

5. Life

Sometimes, life just happens.

You can know all that you need to know about real estate, you might have even started out but then life happens and you are back to square one.

That is why you need to hide under the mighty hand of God.
